APE magic mushroom spore swabs are produced under sterile conditions and should be kept dark and refrigerated (2-8°C) to increase the shelf life of the Cubensis spores.
How to use the APE spore swab
When it comes to germinating spores from a spore swab you get a lot of different options. It is recommended that you use agar for our swabs.
First method: Use sterile scalpel, tweezers or small scissors to cut the tip of the swab off into smaller pieces. Then place the smaller bits of spore covered swab tip onto your choice of agar medium.
Second method: Make a zig-zag pattern with the swab on to your choice of agar. Be sure to give it a bit of pressure to ensure spore transfer.
Third method: Using sterile methods remove the tip of the swab and place it into your agar, pushing it down past the surface.
All of these methods can be used together or in combinations. Whatever works best for you!
Study spores and research using a microscope
Seen from a scientific point of view; all Psilocybe Cubensis are alike. But they do differ slightly in appearance and fruiting speed (phenotype). There are numerous Psilocybe Cubensis that have different phenotypes. These different Cubensis are not considered subspecies, but different strains. APE is a strain of Psilocybe Cubensis.

Cover the specimen with a microscope covering glass. The best magnification for Psilocybe Cubensis and Panaeolus Cyanescens spore research is a magnification of 1000x or higher.
How to store a spore swab
APE spore swab should be stored refrigerated in a temperature between 2°C – 8°C or 35°F – 46°F. The shelf life of the spore swab is at least 12 months after they leave our warehouse.
